Along with the other two GMT Master II models – 126710BLRO Pepsi and 126715CHNR GMT Master II Everose, the Rolex GMT Master II Everose Rolesor ref. 126711CHNR a.k.a “Rootbeer” has been one of the hottest watches which is sought after by the watch enthusiasts. The watch is nicknamed “Rootbeer” because of its resemblance to the vintage Rolex GMT Master ref. 16753 with the same nickname. While the original GMT Master Rootbeer was fitted with a brown dial, the Rolex 126711CHNR feels and looks like its predecessor regardless that it comes with a black dial instead. However, many collectors argue that 126711CHNR is no “Rootbeer” at all. It may share a similar look, but it is obviously not a remake of the original “Rootbeer”, not that Rolex ever claimed it was. Let’s talk about the specification of the watch.

Case

The Rolex GMT-Master II 126711CHNR might not be the ordinary monochrome Rolex that everyone loves. The watch is made of Rolesor – the combination of gold and steel. However, rather than the most common yellow gold, this watch uses Everose gold. The case has been slightly redesigned on the flanks and on the lungs to allow the optimization of the polishing process. It might look thicker and bulkier. But if you like something robust and reliable on your wrist, this piece is probably a good option for you. The case diameter remains at 40mm and water resistance at 100m.

Bezel

The black and brown bi-colour bezel is obviously the highlight of this timepiece.

The colour combination looks more appealing. Under direct light, the brown colour of the bezel pops and complements the Rolesor bracelet very well. While under dimmer conditions, the brown section appears more subdued and blends the black section well. The bezel is so well made that the transition from one colour to the other is simply seamless and nothing is visible to the naked eye.

Dial

The dial of the Rolex 126711CHNR is one of the unique features that are worthy of attention. The dial is black, but it looks to stand out with its 18k gold hour markers and hands. Even the GMT-Master II wording at 6 o’clock is in gold. Overall it will remind you of the vintage Rolex watches.

Bracelet

Usually, the GMT Master II collection uses two different bracelets. The steel models come on the Jubilee bracelet only. In comparison, the Rolesor and full gold models are on the Oyster bracelet. The Rolex 126711CHNR has a two-tone Oyster bracelet with the middle links made in Rose gold.

The claps and the flip lock are also made in Everose gold. The flip-lock has an “Easylink” system to extend the bracelet by up to 5 mm. This fine-adjust system is comfortable to adjust the bracelet without having to use screwdrivers.

Movement

Inside the Rolex 126711CHNR is the new Calibre 3285. With this movement, the watch can reserve longer power for up to 70 hours. It also features a Parachrom hairspring, offering good resistance to shocks and temperature variation. Like any GMT watch, the hour hands can be set independently as you travel across time zone without affecting timekeeping.

There are few things that make this Rolex 126711CHNR is not any way identical to the original Rolex “Rootbeer”. This timepiece might not be for everyone, but most people will say that it is visually beautiful. In addition, just like other Rolex’s sport watches, the size will be comfortable on the wrist and suitable for everyday occasion. Add this timepiece in your watch collection now!
